1.- What screen resolution should I use to run Galicaster?

Galicaster is prepared to run on 1920x1080, 1280x960 and 1024x768. Other resolutions would work but some defects could appear.

2.- May I use a tactile or can I use it with mouse and keyboard?

Tactile screens provides a easier, faster experience with Galicaster but you can use it with a regular screen. Remember activiting the mouse pointer

3.- What computer should I use?

Depending on the [Galicaster:Hardware], an Intel (R) i5 or equivalent should cover most of the capturing devices.

4.- The recording preview hasn't started. What should I do?

Try activiting the devices one by one. Once you identified the problematic one, check it and its configuration.

5.- The webcam freezes after a few seconds running.

Probably, your computer isn't powerful enough to handle the webcam. Try stopping programs that could be troubling the webcam and change the output resolution to a lower one.

6.- I can hear anytihing on the preview.

Probably Galicaster is muted on the sound control of your operative system or maybe the audio device you are using is muted or with a too low volume.

7.- I can't hear anything on the recording.

Check the sound control in your operative system if your audio device it's muted or in a too low volume. Be sure of the device you want to record the audio from.

8.- Galicaster isn't getting any signal from my laptop.

After ensuring that your laptop is sending the signal properly, check your configuration, the capture device it's problably misconfigured.
If you have further problems, check if the resolution it's compatible with you VGA framegrabber.

9.- My camera it's working fine but I only get noise or a black screen.

Your camera and your capturing card should have a compatible configuration (e.g., both sending and getting Composite in PAL).

10.- Can I use Galicaster in other distributions:

For now, Galicaster has been tested only for Ubuntu 10.10 but we are working on make it avaliable for newer versions of Ubuntu.

11.- I want to ingest a recording but it won't work.

Review your ingest configuration carefully, ensure that your matterhorn account is valid for diges porpouses and check if your computer belong to a network with access to the Opencast Matterhorn server you try to connect to.

12.- I want to modify Galicaster for my own porpouses, how can I do that?

As for the license Galicaster is being released under, you can modify the Software yourself. Please send back any modification and address us any problems getting them ready. Before start any changes yourself, get in touch with us to avoid any unnecessary work for both we and you.
