Why you need Galicaster

It's multistream

Galicaster records multiple video and audio stream, synchronously.

It's automatic

You can schedule recordings remotely. They will start and stop automatically. Afterwards, the recording will be send to a designated Opencast Matterhorn server.

It's free

Galicaster is released on a share license that allows you to download and use it for free.

Audio and video live feedback

Every stream is previewed on its graphical interface. In addition audio is monitored with a vu-meter and visual warnings. Remote monitoring is also available

Media management

All the recordings you make can be browsed, played, deleted, zipped etc. on the very same machine.

Helping the user

Lecturers and operators can supervise the recordings easilly. A red pilot let you know you're on air, and warnings prevent you to leave the microphone muted or disabled.

Records in any format.

Plenty of compatible capture cards allows you to record in any format: S-Video, Composite, VGA, DVI, SDI, DV, Component, HDMI.

No VGA scaler needed.

No need for a VGA scaler or other adaptors, Galicaster does all the work. It detects when the laptop signals is down and let you reattach it again.

Adaptable and flexible units.

Galicaster is suitable for many computers: rack, laptop, pc.

What do you need to use Galicaster?

  1. A powerful computer or laptop, a Intel i7 covers every option but an i5 may be enough, with a graphics card
  2. Some capture cards, for example:
    • PAL/ NTSC: Hauppauge PVR-350 (with HW encoding), Digitus USB 2.0 Video Grabber among others.
    • DV: Any DV Firewire card
    • VGA or DVI capture: Ephiphan framegrabers, NCast Digitizers
    • HD webcam: Logitech c920
    • SDI: Blackmagic Decklink SDI
    • HDMI: Blackmagic Intensity Pro
